Some Final Thoughts For The Year

If you have been anything like me, your life has been going 100 mph these final weeks heading into the holidays.

Let's take a breather, and look at a few things to think about as we bring an end to 2016, and get ready for the new year...

4 Thoughts for our 2017 forethought...

Lead with Purpose: We have 4 core values that direct our focus at the office: Love, Integrity, Vision and Empowerment. These ultimately help drive us in our mission (which you see displayed in the office) which states "We exist to optimize your HEALTH and WELLNESS so that you can truly LIVE." Yes, this is a teaser for things to come, but I want you to think what core values you can focus on in 2017 that can make it the best year of your life.

Learn From Our Elders: One thing I hear over and over in the office from my elderly patients is "If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself."  If you are lucky enough to still be young and in great health, take this as a lesson.  You only get one body, don't neglect it.  Make a commitment this year to take better care of yourself. No regrets!

Get Specific:  When deciding you want to change something in your life get specific, very specific.  Don't say "I want to lose weight", your brain does not know what to do with such a vague statement.  Say something like "I want to lose 25 lbs. by June 1st".  The more specific you are, the more likely you will follow through.  I often here patients say "I want to get adjusted more this year", this generally leads to more of the same. Get specific with your goals.

Get Busy:  There is an epidemic in society. We tend to talk a mean game but don't follow through.  Don't complain about the life you wish you had, do something about it every day. Don't complain about the health you wish you had, do something to improve it every day.  It is not easy...none of it is.  If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.  It takes commitment and hard work, but the payoff is the life and health of your dreams.  D.D. Palmer, who discovered chiropractic, once said "Success is in the climb, but don't ever lose your vision and your purpose." Know what you want, and go after it with everything you have.

That's how a little forethought, that becomes actionable living today, will help make 2017 the year of your dreams!

LIVE well. BE well.
