Sometimes It's Hard Work

Thomas Edison once famously said, "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."  This statement rings true whether it comes to success in life, or with taking care of your health.

We live in an instant gratification society

With the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram we have an enormous amount of information instantly at our finger tips.  This "get it now" mindset has rolled over into the way we take care of our bodies. We want to be healthy right now!  It is very easy to look at pictures, ads, and articles online of people that are in amazing physical health and wish that is what we were like.  What we are not told about in most cases is the HARD WORK that helped them achieve it!!!  You can have amazing health, but it takes more than wishing.

At the office, I see everyone from a newborn to those in their 90's.  Would it make sense to begin putting work in at taking care of your spine at a very young age, or when you get older?  The answer is obvious, start when you are young. However, starting wherever you are currently at is what is most important. For most their first chiropractic experience comes as they get older.  Better late than never is what I always say, but just remember that older problems don't go away over night...they take work! I was just commending someone the other day that after months of hard work getting their spine healthy, they are finally doing great.  I told them, just like with exercise or a healthy diet, most would have quit long ago before reaping the rewards he is now getting. He was very patient.

Getting and staying healthy is not a sometimes thing, but an all the time habit.  Many patients look at me, the things I do, and the way I live my life and say "I wish I could do half of that". No one is perfect, but if you want to live a long and healthy life you have to put the work in every day.  We only get one chance at this thing called life. Don't live with regret.  

In a couple months many people will make "new years resolutions" for 2017.  

Why wait?

If you know you have to change something in your life, do it now.  

None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, so don't wait until then to change something that can start today.
